Why:
Purpose #1: Bayou Student Weekend exists to make Jesus known to every student in the heart of the south Louisiana bayou region.
Purpose #2: Bayou Student Weekend exists to help empower and equip students to live out their faith to the level that God has designed for them.
Purpose #3: Bayou Student Weekend exists for churches to unite more deeply. We are not just individual congregations; together, we are THE Church!
Purpose #4: Bayou Student Weekend exists to provide a platform for student pastors and church leaders to forge stronger relationships, fostering a community dedicated to impacting young lives.
Theme: The theme is REDEFINED. Students will be challenged to embrace God’s redefining work in their lives, trusting Him to shape their identity, purpose, and reality.

Humans are creatures of habit, drawn to routine and predictability. When something disrupts our expectations, it often creates chaos. But when the disrupter is God, it can become a beautiful chaos. God is the great redefiner. At the heart of what it means to know and experience God is the process of redefinition. God defines what it means to be new. God spoke a new creation into existence out of nothing, redefining our existence. Through the person and work of Christ, God made complete renewal possible for all who come to faith in Him, redefining our reality. In the salvation offered by God, we discover a new identity, redefining who we are. And in discovering who God meant for us to always be, our purpose is redefined.
Speaker: Derrick “Griff” Griffon is a passionate leader, energetic speaker, and authentic follower of Jesus. He is the NextGen Pastor at The Bayou Church in Lafayette, LA. Griff is also an author and evangelist whose mission is to inspire and influence the next generation to know, follow, and love Jesus. With authenticity, energy, and a heart for Jesus, Griff is excited to return back to this year’s Bayou Student Weekend!
