Elevate Student Conference 24'
Sept. 27th-29th
Elevate Student Conference is our Back-To-School weekend retreat. From Friday evening through Sunday morning, students will be immersed in scripture, fellowship, and fun. On the Friday and Saturday nights, they'll sleep at host homes of faithful members in the church. This is an excellent event for new and current students to build relationships with each other, with their Elevate leaders, and (the ultimate goal) with Jesus.
Who: 7th-12th grades (12-18 y/o)
When: September 27th-29th
Where: Living Word Church, Host Homes, and Adventure Quest New Orleans
How Much: $50 per student
Deadline for registration: Sept. 20th
What: ESC24 will kick off with a "Fifth Quarter" event after the HCS home game that Friday evening. That night will be an "all-welcome" evangelistic after-party and service where everyone from the football game is invited.
Then, those registered for ESC24 will spend the rest of the weekend together. We'll have three more sessions focused on the spiritual disciplines of a Christian's life. Saturday afternoon, we'll play laser tag, putt putt golf, bumper cars, and arcade games at Adventure Quest, Metairie. Finally, the event will wrap up with attending Sunday morning service together at LWC.
Why: Remember Zacchaeus in the Bible? He positioned himself in Jesus' path so he could encounter Jesus. "The Lord still travels down certain paths, paths that He Himself has ordained and revealed in scripture. We call these paths the Spiritual Disciplines, and if we will place ourselves on these paths (prayer, scripture reading, worship, service, and etc.) and look for Him there by faith, we can expect to encounter Him." - Donald S. Whitney
Secondly, just like a tree needs water, nutrients, and sun to grow fruit, spiritual disciplines are the means - arguably the only means - to spiritual maturity and bearing fruit.
We'll be encouraging a handful of these habits throughout our sessions and eGroup times. We hope our students find a new passion in their relationship with Jesus through these godly practices.
Keynote Speakers:
* Pastor Kevin Celestin
* Pastor Ben Bufkin
* Amber Smith
* Pastor Dominick Farone
